The joys of Teaching!

One of the many delights of teaching is when your students suddenly start formulating their own theories on learning, particulary if they are notions which you had been trying to get across to them perhaps even  months ago. This happened to me yesterday when one of my students who has always hated anything that approaches… Continue reading The joys of Teaching!

Falling in love!

Every time I start a lesson with a new class.....it's like falling in love! It's so exciting to walk into that room and see the expectant faces! And I KNOW what they are thinking. "Will this be the time I really manage to get to grips with this language,?"

At long last!

This is my first video recording and it's just a taste of what we'll do in our conversation lessons. Lessons? More correctly I'd say practice. Drone means to speak in a flat, boring, way, losing your listeners' interest on the… Continue reading Droning

Pronunciation problems

I always find it very embarrassing when I tell my students that they need to speak well. The reason? I've been in Italy for a long ,long time and I still speak like Stan Laurel! But the point is this: People can understand me because Italian is a pretty straightforward language to speak, whereas if you don't… Continue reading Pronunciation problems

What I’d like to do

I'd like to help people learn English. I have  very long experience teaching English and the one thing that stands out in my mind is this. After the first lesson my students say to me, "no one ever told me that" so I do think I could help YOU too
